*If English is not your native language, don’t worry! We speak many languages (as you’ll find out on in the information about Katja on this page), and are very used to teaching vocal techniques to an international group of singers.

Hi! I’m Katja.
One of my superpowers is to make complex singing techniques accessible and fun, and to break down the process of learning and practicing into manageable steps.
I created the Sing Everything courses because I wanted to help singers like you reach their full vocal potential.
I have been singing for as long as I can remember, and started formal voice lessons when I was 13 years old. Sometimes I made progress and sometimes I just couldn’t figure out how to sound in a specific way, no matter how much I tried. The voice was a big mystery to me!
My own singing frustrations paired with my wish of being able to help the singers I worked with even better, led me on a big quest: I wanted to figure out how the voice really worked! Through extensive studies I found out that it doesn’t have to be a big mystery! There’s a roadmap to the voice, and to all the sounds we want to make.

What you’ll learn in Sing Everything Foundations:
I am confident to say that you’ll learn so much about your voice in these 8 weeks that it will blow your mind! Why do I say this? Because many of the singers I work with tell me they learn more about their voice with me in one lesson than they did after four years of studying at the conservatory.
Knowledge about how the voice works is a great thing. But knowledge alone doesn’t make us sing the songs we want to sing with more ease. That’s why an equally big part of this course is dedicated to how you practice. What makes this course unique, is that you will receive guidance in your singing practice for every step of the way. That’s kind of like having a personal trainer or coach at your disposal!
The techniques and exercises are scaled, so that they build up in ‘level’. I’ll walk you through the steps from accessing a specific technique in your voice to implementing it in your repertoire. This makes the course accessible for aspiring singers as well as seasoned vocalists.
What we’ll cover in Sing Everything Foundations:
- Breathing & breath management for various singing styles.
- Techniques for support.
- Techniques to access more power and harmonics in your voice, avoid hoarseness, vocal discomfort and strain.
- Complete Vocal Technique (CVT) vocal mode foundations: you’ll learn to access the vocal modes Neutral, Curbing, Overdrive and Edge in your own voice, and learn to use them so that you can troubleshoot vocal problems and design your own sound.
- “Twang Farm” techniques to sing across different popular music styles.
- Sing From The Source practices: holistic approaches to working with your voice & singing.
- Effective practice methods and integrating exercises into your songs.
- Vocal troubleshooting for your personal vocal challenges.
- Music interpretation and storytelling.
- Confidence in singing and performing.
Wanna dive in even deeper after the 8-weeks Foundations course? We’ve got you covered! After the Foundations course, it’s possible to join a Sing Everything Power Group (individual singing tuition in a small group of max. 4 singers), or a Sing Everything course on advanced use of the vocal modes and other techniques, vocal effects (like distortions, growls, ornamentation techniques, etc), courses on specific vocal techniques like “mixed voice” or “belting” techniques, designing your signature sound, and more. The Foundations course is required before attending advanced courses. These courses range from weekend courses to 1-9 months and are available in Helsinki (from autumn 2025 onwards) and online.
The course evenings consist of workshop-style teaching on specific technique topics, where all participants get to try out all the techniques and exercises, and solo sessions where you’ll work on your own chosen repertoire of songs and get help with solving vocal technique problems, integrating the techniques into your songs, and trying out different options for your vocal expression, musical interpretation and performance.
The course is a high-touch group coaching experience in an intimate group of max. 6 singers.
By sharing insights and observing other singers at work, you’ll learn more about the voice and singing than you would if you only take private lessons. Learning and growing vocally together is FUN and you’ll get a group of personal cheerleaders to motivate and support you along the way!

Get to know your teacher & coach:
Some facts about me
Lifelong Learner
I hold a Master’s degree in Music Education from the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, studied Jazz, Brazilian and Latin music at Codarts University of the Arts in Rotterdam, and am a certified Complete Vocal Technique (CVT) Teacher. I’ve studied many cutting-edge vocal methodologies with internationally renowned voice pedagogues, trained in vocal improvisation, Global Choir Leadership, entrepreneurship, and as a Creativity Coach.
Teacher
I was hired for my first teaching job when I was 17 years old, but I actually rolled into teaching even before that – so I’ve been teaching most of my life! I’ve taught singing and music interpretation in the Music Theatre Bachelor program at Codarts University of the Arts, at Dutch Academy of Performing Arts, Buitenkunst, Studio Selma Susanna, The Vocal Couch, and been a guest/workshop teacher for many performing arts institutes including Artez University of the Arts, Butler University and MBO Theaterschool.
Performer & Coach
I’ve performed as a singer and musician in living rooms, cafés, on festival stages, at corporate events, live music venues and theaters, and worked as a vocal coach for theatre productions, in the recording studio, with choirs and a cappella groups. Besides being a singer I play many musical instruments, including the piano, flute and some Brazilian percussion instruments.

When I grew up in rural Ostrobothnia, my friends had band posters on their bedroom walls – I covered my walls with postcards and pictures from around the world and my favorite item was the globe. I speak 7 languages, lived in The Netherlands for 21 years, and have been working internationally through travels and online teaching. Now I’m back at my roots in Finland.

These terms and conditions outline the rules and regulations for the Sing Everything Foundations 8-week course in Helsinki with Katja Maria Slotte, a service provided by Creative Voice.
PAYMENTS & REFUNDS: The course fees are prepaid (either pay in full or pay in rates). Course registrations are binding. By making the payment and registering for the course, you reserve your seat in the course and commit to the 8-week course. There are no refunds, and here’s why: Your Coaching includes preparation from both of us, which means your teacher and coach is committed to your coaching and invested in your course participation already before the actual course evenings begin. Should you miss more than 2 course evenings due to health reasons or unexpected life circumstances, you can apply to attend those during the next Sing Everything Foundations course (in Helsinki or online).
FINANCIAL: When you pay for your course through our online store powered by Holvi, your payment is processed by Holvi. Creative Voice never sees your financials.
SESSIONS ON LOCATION IN HELSINKI: The course takes place in Helsinki, and we will meet at Lapinlahden Lähde, Lapinlahdenkuja 8, 00180 Helsinki. You will receive exact directions on how to arrive at the studio by email before the course starts. Arrive on time. I will open the door for you 10-15 minutes in advance of your session time, and when we start at 18:30, the front door is locked. The studio is an allergy and asthma friendly space, which means please make sure not to wear any perfumes, etc.
SESSION RECORDINGS: You are welcome to record your personal solo session for your future private reference and study. By agreeing to these Terms and Conditions, you acknowledge that all content of every session is my (Katja Maria Slotte’s) intellectual property and, as such, may not be distributed or released for public viewing on any platform without my express written permission.
INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY: You’re not allowed to use my intellectual property for your own business gain, or to present it as your own. This includes all course materials and study resources.
COACH-CLIENT RELATIONSHIP: You as the Client, are responsible for creating your own decisions, choices, actions and results resulting from the coaching and interactions with your Coach (Katja Maria). The Client agrees that the Coach is not and will not be liable or responsible for any actions or inaction, or for any direct or indirect results of any services provided by the Coach. Coach makes no guarantees, representations or warranties of any kind of nature, express or implied with respect to the coaching services negotiated, agreed upon and rendered. In no event shall the Coach be liable to the Client for any indirect, consequential or special damages.
MEDIA RELEASE: Media of all Creative Voice online music studio client’s studio activities may be used for studio promotion in perpetuity. This includes all audio and video recordings online and in person, co-writes and co-creations. Notify me in writing to opt out of media sharing.
